     Laban G. Quaintance was born on 26 May 1816.¹ He was the son of William Quaintance and Sabra Southard.¹ Laban G. Quaintance died on 20 August 1816.¹

     Louisa P. Quaintance was born on 7 December 1817.¹ She was the daughter of William Quaintance and Sabra Southard.¹ Louisa P. Quaintance married John W. Stockwell on 26 August 1841.¹ Louisa P. Quaintance died on 12 November 1897 at age 79.¹

     Harriet Quaintance was born on 5 June 1819.¹ She was the daughter of William Quaintance and Sabra Southard.¹ Harriet Quaintance married Thomas Alexander Henderson on 13 February 1838.¹ Harriet Quaintance died.¹

     Mary H. Quaintance was born on 3 January 1821.¹ She was the daughter of William Quaintance and Sabra Southard.¹ Mary H. Quaintance married Monroe T. Brookes on 4 January 1850.¹ Mary H. Quaintance died on 7 April 1851 at age 30. She died from tuberculosis.^1,2

     John H. Quaintance was born on 16 May 1826.¹ He was the son of William Quaintance and Sabra Southard.² John H. Quaintance died on 3 November 1849 at age 23. He died from cholera.^1,3

     Huldah Grace Quaintance was born on 7 February 1829.¹ She was the daughter of William Quaintance and Sabra Southard.² Huldah Grace Quaintance died on 11 September 1847 at age 18. She died of typhoid fever.^1,3

     Peter Gordon was born on 29 December 1800 in Mason Co., Kentucky.¹ He was a farmer in Mason County.² He was the son of Col. Lewis Gordon and Keziah Stout. Peter Gordon witnessed the marriage bond of Ralph Newton Jenkins and Susan Gordon on 5 December 1821 in Mason County; her brother Peter was required to attest that she was at least 21 years old, even though Peter himself was barely 21 at the time.³ Peter Gordon married Clarissa Berry Loyd, daughter of Richard Dixon Loyd and Clara Berry, on 30 January 1832 in Mason County. Peter Gordon was Sheriff circa 1850 in Mason County.⁴ He died on 20 November 1853 in Mason County at age 52.¹ He was buried in Maysville Cemetery, Maysville, Mason Co., Kentucky.¹ He apparently bought and sold much real estate in Mason Co. There are numerous deeds with his name on them in the local records. All of this land was later sold off by his sons when they moved from Mason to Fleming Co. A property statement filed after his death indicates that he also owned a family of slaves in 1853. The total value of his "personal property" was about $7300.

Peter's generation seemed to mark the high point of the family's fortunes in Kentucky. Many of his children married into prominent land-holding families in the area, such as the Downings, Smoots, and Quaintances. The value of these holdings eventually decreased during the next generation, probably due to the Civil War, the end of slavery, and other economic and social changes.⁵

     Clarissa Berry Loyd was born on 16 June 1808 in Mason Co., Kentucky. She was the daughter of Richard Dixon Loyd and Clara Berry. Clarissa Berry Loyd married Peter Gordon, son of Col. Lewis Gordon and Keziah Stout, on 30 January 1832 in Mason County. Clarissa Berry Loyd died on 5 August 1870 in Mason County at age 62.

     Susan Elizabeth Gordon was born on 11 November 1832 in Mason Co., Kentucky.¹ She was the daughter of Peter Gordon and Clarissa Berry Loyd. Susan Elizabeth Gordon died on 23 August 1865 in Mason County at age 32.¹ She was buried in Maysville Cemetery, Maysville, Mason Co., Kentucky.¹

     Anna Eliza Gordon was born on 1 August 1836 in Mason Co., Kentucky. She was the daughter of Peter Gordon and Clarissa Berry Loyd. Anna Eliza Gordon married Darius Downing, son of Robert Downing Jr and Jane McKinzie, on 12 January 1869 in Peter Gordon's residence, Mason Co., Kentucky.¹ Anna Eliza Gordon died on 2 April 1888 in Mason County at age 51.¹ She was buried in Maysville Cemetery, Maysville, Mason Co., Kentucky.²

     Mary Keziah Gordon was born on 22 March 1839 in Mason Co., Kentucky. She was the daughter of Peter Gordon and Clarissa Berry Loyd. Mary Keziah Gordon married William Perrine Smoot, son of William Elgin Smoot and Elizabeth Perrine, on 6 January 1862 in Mason County. Mary Keziah Gordon and William Perrine Smoot lived in June 1900 in 310 Market St., Maysville, Mason Co., Kentucky. They lived there with their son, Peter.¹ Mary Keziah Gordon died on 4 October 1924 in Mason County at age 85. She was buried in Maysville Cemetery, Maysville, Mason Co., Kentucky.²

     Dr. Peter Albert Gordon was born on 29 November 1844 in Mason Co., Kentucky.¹ He was a homeopathic physician in Flemingsburg, Fleming Co., Kentucky.² He was the son of Peter Gordon and Clarissa Berry Loyd. Dr. Peter Albert Gordon was educated at the Homeopathic Medical College of New York in New York City, New York.³ He was graduated on 1 March 1868.³ He lived in 1880 in Flemingsburg.⁴ He was a partner in a farming operation with his brother, Lewis Dixon Gordon, from 1887 to his death in 1891. Peter owned the land, which was near Lamar in Barton Co., Missouri.⁵ He shared his medical practice in Flemingsburg with Dr. Peter Gordon Smoot from 1888 until June of 1891.⁶ He died on 4 February 1891 in Lamar, Barton Co., Missouri, at age 46. He died of "La Grippe," which is now called influenza.^1,7,8 He was buried in Maysville Cemetery, Maysville, Mason Co., Kentucky.^1,7 Peter may have lived somewhat of an adventurous life. One of the pictures of him was taken at a photographer's studio in Denver, Colorado. It is not known why he was there and exactly when, but in the late 1800's that was quite a "boom" area due to the gold rush in the Rockies. He must have established enough of a residence that he wanted a portrait photograph taken.⁹

     Clara Ella Gordon was born on 1 June 1848 in Mason Co., Kentucky. She was the daughter of Peter Gordon and Clarissa Berry Loyd. Clara Ella Gordon married Samuel N. Smoot, son of William Elgin Smoot and Elizabeth Perrine, on 15 October 1874 in Mason County.¹ Clara Ella Gordon and Samuel N. Smoot lived in 1884 in Lamar, Barton Co., Missouri.² Clara Ella Gordon died on 22 February 1923 in Independence, Jackson Co., Missouri, at age 74.³ She was buried in Mt. Washington Cemetery, Independence, Jackson Co., Missouri.³

     Col. Lewis Gordon was born on 9 June 1762 in Monmouth Co., New Jersey.^4,1 He was the son of Peter Gordon and Mary Craig.^2,1,3 Col. Lewis Gordon married Keziah Stout, daughter of John Stout and Mabel Sexton, before 1783 in Hunterdon Co., New Jersey. Col. Lewis Gordon and Keziah Stout lived in 1785 in Hopewell, Hunterdon Co., New Jersey. The tax record seems to indicate that they lived in town and that Lewis had some sort of business as a "merchant". He owned some cattle, but apparently no taxable land. His status as a "householder" and not as a "single man" shows that they were married by this time.⁵ Col. Lewis Gordon and Keziah Stout lived in 1789 in Hopewell, Hunterdon Co., New Jersey.⁶ He emigrated from New Jersey to Washington, Kentucky, which was one of the first settlements west of the Alleghenies.⁷ Col. Lewis Gordon was county surveyor in 1799 in Mason Co., Kentucky.^8,9 He was a farmer, raising corn and wheat and keeping horses and cattle in Mason County.¹⁰ He and Keziah Stout lived after 18 May 1799 in Jersey Ridge, Mason Co., Kentucky. The land was near Lawrence's Creek and was purchased from Alexander Orr.¹¹ Col. Lewis Gordon was in military service in the Kentucky Militia, aka the "Cornstalk Militia" between 1803 and 1810 in Mason County. He was a Captain in the 15th Regiment, 21 May 1803, and a Major in the 15th Regiment, 1st Battalion, 28 Aug 1806. It is assumed that his final rank was Colonel, as this is the title that he later used.^12,13 He made several purchases in William Tureman's store in Washington, Kentucky in 1807.¹⁴ He was a "Trustee of Schools in Mason County" in 1809.¹⁵ He died on 9 May 1844 in Mason County at age 81.¹⁶ He was buried in the Old Washington Cemetery, Mason Co., Kentucky.¹⁶

     William Perrine Smoot was born on 23 November 1840 in Mason Co., Kentucky. He was the son of William Elgin Smoot and Elizabeth Perrine. William Perrine Smoot married Mary Keziah Gordon, daughter of Peter Gordon and Clarissa Berry Loyd, on 6 January 1862 in Mason County. William Perrine Smoot was a superintendent of turnpikes in 1900 in Mason County.¹ He and Mary Keziah Gordon lived in June 1900 in 310 Market St., Maysville, Mason Co., Kentucky. They lived there with their son, Peter.¹ William Perrine Smoot died on 26 May 1909 in Mason County at age 68.² He was buried in Maysville Cemetery, Maysville, Mason Co., Kentucky.³

     Samuel N. Smoot was born on 11 December 1847 in Mason Co., Kentucky. He was the son of William Elgin Smoot and Elizabeth Perrine. Samuel N. Smoot married Clara Ella Gordon, daughter of Peter Gordon and Clarissa Berry Loyd, on 15 October 1874 in Mason County.¹ Samuel N. Smoot and Clara Ella Gordon lived in 1884 in Lamar, Barton Co., Missouri.² Samuel was one of the family members who moved to Missouri in the 1880's, where he may have had some sort of partnership with Peter A. Gordon or Lewis Dixon Gordon. Samuel N. Smoot was proprietor of the Commercial Hotel in 1892 in Lamar, Barton Co., Missouri.³ He appeared on the census of April 1930 in the household of Anna Marie Smoot in Kansas City, Jackson Co., Missouri.⁴ Samuel N. Smoot died after 1930.⁴

     Ella Gordon Downing was born on 20 January 1870. She was the daughter of Darius Downing and Anna Eliza Gordon. Ella Gordon Downing married James Edward Parker, son of Peter Lee Parker, on 18 May 1892.¹ Ella Gordon Downing and James Edward Parker lived in June 1900 in 1222 East Second, Maysville, Mason Co., Kentucky.² Ella Gordon Downing died on 9 September 1926 at age 56.¹

     James Edward Parker was born on 6 June 1864. He was the son of Peter Lee Parker.¹ James Edward Parker married Ella Gordon Downing, daughter of Darius Downing and Anna Eliza Gordon, on 18 May 1892.² James Edward Parker and Ella Gordon Downing lived in June 1900 in 1222 East Second, Maysville, Mason Co., Kentucky.³ James Edward Parker died on 26 March 1963 at age 98.⁴

     Lillian Lee Parker was born on 8 November 1894.¹ She was the daughter of James Edward Parker and Ella Gordon Downing. Lillian Lee Parker died on 9 June 1896 at age 1.¹

     James Edward Parker was born on 6 May 1898.^1,2 He was the son of James Edward Parker and Ella Gordon Downing. James Edward Parker married Ruth Thomas on 11 December 1921.¹ James Edward Parker died on 19 September 1986 at age 88.²

     Robert Elmer Parker was born on 19 April 1907.¹ He was the son of James Edward Parker and Ella Gordon Downing. Robert Elmer Parker died on 9 August 1913 at age 6.¹

     Anne Gordon Parker was born on 18 May 1910.¹ She was the daughter of James Edward Parker and Ella Gordon Downing. Anne Gordon Parker married Jack Moore on 1 September 1936.¹ Anne Gordon Parker died on 25 March 1990 at age 79.¹

     Jack Moore was born on 22 May 1905.¹ He married Anne Gordon Parker, daughter of James Edward Parker and Ella Gordon Downing, on 1 September 1936.¹ Jack Moore died on 12 April 1964 at age 58.¹

     Edward Darnall was born in 1671 in England.¹ He married Sarah Robey, daughter of John II Robey and Sara Hines Luckett, circa 1703 in Charles Co., Maryland.^1,2 Edward Darnall died in 1754 in Charles Co., Maryland.^1,2

     Sarah Robey was born in 1687 in Charles Co., Maryland.¹ She was the daughter of John II Robey and Sara Hines Luckett.¹ Sarah Robey married Edward Darnall circa 1703 in Charles Co., Maryland.^1,2 Sarah Robey died in 1738 in Charles Co., Maryland.¹

     Peter Glasscock Jr. was born in 1744 in Fauquier Co., Virginia.¹ He was the son of Peter Glasscock and Jane Fishback.¹ Peter Glasscock Jr. died after 1801 in Rowan Co., N. Carolina.¹
