     Adam Downing was born on 6 November 1792 in Virginia. He married an unknown person . He was the son of James Downing and Sara Laughlin. Adam Downing died on 30 July 1854 in Monroe Twp, Allen Co., Ohio, at age 61. Adam was one of the first settlers to Monroe Twp Allen Co Ohio. On 10-27-1833 he purchased the first section of his Allen county farm.] Additional purchases were made 02-10-1835 and 10-23-1835. Sarah Laughlin, Adam's wife, was his cousin. After Adam's death, Sarah remarried on 04-03-1862 to a widower, Henry Soloman, but at her death she was buried at Adam's side, and Henry at the side of his first wife.

Ann ' Nancy ' never knew her father James as he died before she was born. The only father she ever knew was Joseph Wells who married Susannah after James died.

     Susannah Unknown was born in 1727. She married James Downing, son of Timothy Downing, in 1746. Susannah Unknown married Joseph Wells in 1763 in Pennsylvania. Susannah Unknown died in 1793 in Mason Co., Kentucky. She died. She was 35 years old when James died in 1762. She married Joseph Wells and they lived in the Catfish Camp, Washington Co PA area until about 1789-90. Joseph and Susannah sold some lots in the village of Washington, KY in 1790. She may be buried in an unmarked grave in the Downing Family Cemetery on Slack Pike in Mason Co KY.
