John Gordon died on 10 September 1547 in the Battle of Pinkie Cleugh, Musselburg, Midlothian, Scotland. He was probably the last of our line to die doing battle with the English. This was the last major engagement of the Scottish-English wars.

John Gordon married Barbara Forbes, daughter of Sir Alexander Forbes and Maria Jane Hey. John Gordon died on 9 September 1513 in the Battle of Flodden, Branxton, Northumberland, England. He was killed in the Battle of Flodden Field, fighting against Henry VIII, in which King James IV of Scotland was also killed along with many Scottish nobles and about 10,000 soldiers.

He was known as "Jock of Scurdargue". Along with his brother he is considered the line of the "true Gordons", as opposed to the Gordons of Huntly who actually assumed the Gordon name after marrying into the family on the female side.1

Unknown.1 Sir John Gordon and Elizabeth Cruikshanks were possibly married circa 1340.1 Sir John Gordon died on 22 July 1388 in Otterburn, Northumberland, England. He was killed by the English in retaliation for raids and warfare in the north of that country.
